Weekly Photo Challenge: Cover Art: Sphinxes

For this week’s Photo Challenge, stimulate your creative process and imagine which of your images you would like to see gracing the cover of a book, an album, or a magazine.

Sadly, this is what the publisher deemed acceptable as cover art for a James Patterson thriller:

Well, that’s what they get for not consulting me first. After all, we do have this:

Sphinxes. Not by James Patterson.

Have a great weekend!

You are hilarious Barbara, and of course your synchronized sphinxes would cause one to buy the book just for the cover!

Did you set that up or happen upon it? So cute.

Your pups convey that an “intriguing intrigue” awaits within . . . your shot is much more better than the crass commercial cover chosen by Patterson’s publicist.

Now you know what my choice would be Barbara. Those gorgeous Westie’s of yours. I wonder what they have seen to hold their attention so rigid. Fantastic photo. Can I save it in my favourites ?

If only they could talk they would have a best seller. Love the boys.

Blahahaha! I love your puppies and this is the perfect sphinx photo. They are intent on looking like statues. 🙂

  10. So funny, Barbara! I always wonder how much the authors who write with Patterson get. He comes out with a book about every three months it seems.

  13. Barbara … Those Westies have the cool factor. Great pose. Yes, the publishers did no favor to James Patterson with that cover art. Maybe next time they’ll shell out a few dollars for an excellent photo of your little guys. 😉

    • Yes, thank you, Judy! I will make the snarky observation that the original, inferior cover art at least did not have the usual giant JAMES PATTERSON emblazoned across the front in giant font with the title as sort of an afterthought.

Hello Barbara, I’d rather by far read the story that derived from your photo than what could be illustrated by the ninth-rate cut and paste mish-mash on the original Sphinxes. After all, there is that implied mystery of what the dogs are staring at so intently. You may send this as a scenario to Mr. Patterson’s ghost writers, and when they send you the millions, please remember my 10%.

  17. Those boys are too good for such airport fluff. That’s high quality literature in that pose right there.

Perfection! Maybe you’ll keep it for the cover of your own best seller? What sweeping grounds and magnificent trees too. Your pair are adorable!

    • Yes, they are two little white demons that I don’t know what I do without. Those magnificent trees are getting ready to bury us in approximately one billion leaves! If you don’t hear from me for a while, I’m under a pile of them! Enjoy that beautiful garden of yours, Barbara!!

  20. Drat. What a great idea. My little pharoah dog Snowy would have been great for that with his Egyptian poses. But as I only have the one, I need to find a book called sphinx, shouldn’t be too difficult. I will of course, credit you with my plagiarism 🙂
