For this week’s Photo Challenge, stimulate your creative process and imagine which of your images you would like to see gracing the cover of a book, an album, or a magazine.
Sadly, this is what the publisher deemed acceptable as cover art for a James Patterson thriller:
Well, that’s what they get for not consulting me first. After all, we do have this:
Have a great weekend!
Barbara
You are hilarious Barbara, and of course your synchronized sphinxes would cause one to buy the book just for the cover!

Poor James Patterson, having to squeak by on his meager book sales when he could have hit the big time! And you, fellow terrier lover, would be first in line I bet!

Oh I love this. Totally works.

Did you set that up or happen upon it? So cute.

You’ve met the boys, right? They only do what they want in spite of my cajoling. I tiptoed up to them for this shot hoping that whatever had their rapt attention wouldn’t run away.

Your pups convey that an “intriguing intrigue” awaits within . . . your shot is much more better than the crass commercial cover chosen by Patterson’s publicist.

I mean it’s obvious, right? Now that we’ve pointed it out, I’ll have the boys on standby for upcoming publications. Surely the phones will start ringing any minute.

Now you know what my choice would be Barbara. Those gorgeous Westie’s of yours. I wonder what they have seen to hold their attention so rigid. Fantastic photo. Can I save it in my favourites ?

I would be flattered, Rita. Save away. The boys are pleased!

Thanks so much Barbara.

Blahahaha! I love your puppies and this is the perfect sphinx photo. They are intent on looking like statues. 🙂

They were really not looking at anything but were in that sort of semi-hypnotized state after a fun morning of carousing around the place. Thanks, Dor.

So funny, Barbara! I always wonder how much the authors who write with Patterson get. He comes out with a book about every three months it seems.

I almost didn’t post this cover art because JP makes me cringe so with his fleet of ghostwriters and his giant wallet, but I couldn’t find a better title for this shot! I know an author who ghostwrites on the side occasionally; I am sure she would say the ghost writers do not get anywhere near their fair share.

In his case, they have to do a lot of the work as I can’t believe anyone can churn out (quality) books so quickly.

Yes! He tosses out general plot lines and they take it from there!

Well they make for perfect little sphinxes! 🙂 Great timing.

Barbara … Those Westies have the cool factor. Great pose. Yes, the publishers did no favor to James Patterson with that cover art. Maybe next time they’ll shell out a few dollars for an excellent photo of your little guys. 😉

Yes, thank you, Judy! I will make the snarky observation that the original, inferior cover art at least did not have the usual giant JAMES PATTERSON emblazoned across the front in giant font with the title as sort of an afterthought.

I’ve popped over and am flattered at the comparison! What gorgeous photography. But I know that’s not where you see a comparison. It’s Lulu, I know. Max is salivating at the sight of her. Down, boy!

Hello Barbara, I’d rather by far read the story that derived from your photo than what could be illustrated by the ninth-rate cut and paste mish-mash on the original Sphinxes. After all, there is that implied mystery of what the dogs are staring at so intently. You may send this as a scenario to Mr. Patterson’s ghost writers, and when they send you the millions, please remember my 10%.

Perfection! Maybe you’ll keep it for the cover of your own best seller? What sweeping grounds and magnificent trees too. Your pair are adorable!

Yes, they are two little white demons that I don’t know what I do without. Those magnificent trees are getting ready to bury us in approximately one billion leaves! If you don’t hear from me for a while, I’m under a pile of them! Enjoy that beautiful garden of yours, Barbara!!

Drat. What a great idea. My little pharoah dog Snowy would have been great for that with his Egyptian poses. But as I only have the one, I need to find a book called sphinx, shouldn’t be too difficult. I will of course, credit you with my plagiarism 🙂

Joanne, they were in their trance-like stage after running around like two little white dervishes for the morning. We call it their “contemplating the universe” stance.
