Light and dark, tall and short, happy and sad — this week, share a shot that captures a contrast.
The delicate airiness of the heuchera bloom contrasted by the sturdy squatness of the front porch pillar:

That is such a beautiful snapshot, Barb. Very poetic.

G., thank you. I was just trying to get a photo of the heuchera bloom actually — really not even noticing the pillar behind it until I saw the end result. Glad you liked!

I don’t believe in luck when it comes to photography. I believe that each and every shot is the result of the sensibility and maturity we have developed thought the years… Every single one of your ancestors, every joyful moment and every trauma, everything you are is in this picture! Hoooooo I’m thinking way too hard! Sorry for the cheap and cliché comment… but I actually mean it 😉

Nothing from the heart is ever cheap or cliche. And I thank you. Maybe this is why so many people are drawn to the gorgeous photos on your beautiful blog. I know it was what popped out immediately to me.

Thanks, Di. The heuchera is in the urn plantings on the front porch. I was just trying to get the stem and voila, this shot. I was thrilled when I saw the theme for this week’s challenge because I knew just which picture to choose. Glad you liked!

Great contrast between the delicate features of the plant and the almost white pillar background. I might do some cropping as to me the almost “empty” space on the right seems distracting.

Love the contrast. Will the plant wrap itself around the pillar?

No, Sue, that is just a stem and it is already drying up and fading away.

Simply stunning! while observing this so simple but magical photo, at times that porch pillar becomes an open misty space, in a dark wet forest, with a waterfall making a perfect blured background for that sutil heuchera bloom to contrast with. I really like this photo , congrats!
