Weekly Photo Challenge: Nighttime

Nighttime is a subject better left to real photographers with real cameras. One of these days, I want to try my hand at working with an actual camera and lenses. In the meantime, and strictly in a sense of fun, I submit these.

Just the other night, I heard the “let me in!” bark, and when I opened the back door, this is what was waiting for me over the western fields:

Thanks, Max, I would have missed this entirely were it not for you. Good Boy!

Oh, and behold these two piteous creatures who were heartlessly relegated to the camper for the night after a long day of camping. Can you imagine trying to relax around the fire with two anxious sets of big brown eyes following your every move? Needless to say, we succumbed to unrelenting canine pressure and they spent the evening with us watching the fire burn down. Good Night!

“Do you think they’ll let us out soon? ” “Oh, it won’t be long now. Just keep staring.”

I agree with you about night-time photography, but your sunset photo is beautiful. And what sweet little pooches!

    • Someday, Dianna, I would love to get a bit of advice from you on what you think I should start out with for a “real” camera. Your photographs are always so gorgeous and crisp that I feel I could reach into them.

  3. Lovely photos gorgeous sunset! I understand what you mean about night shots however i keep trying – every now and then I just get really lucky and something pretty cool turns out. My new Samsung NX30 takes amazing night shots all on its own on auto – no talent required 🙂 – when I try manually we fall into all sorts of dramas 🙂 but practice makes perfect I guess LOL

    • Sandra, I commented on your photo entry earlier today and see that it hasn’t shown up on your blog. And then I started noodling around and see that none of the comments I’ve made all day on any blogs are there. Which may mean that the blogosphere has come to its senses and blocked my blatherings, but on the off chance that hasn’t happened, maybe you might check your spam and see if I’m there?

Hey – is that why I didn’t hear from you today 🙂 I always look forward to your comments, but thought I didn’t deserve any today LOL!

      • Yes!! I DID comment on your post! Footie jammies and Jiffy Pop! You are not rid of me that easily — although WordPress is doing its best to shut me up!! Never fear, they are working on the problem, and hopefully I will back to my relentless blathering soon!! LOL.

Yup! I checked and you’re in the spam folder. This happened to me a while back and it took me a while to get it resolved. I think, in the end, it was resolved by me logging out of my website and logging back on again. Of course, it took me some time to remember how to do that, as we tend to remain logged in most of the time by default. Alternatively, trying clearing your cache. I’ve unspammed you, set you free 🙂 and will try to check the spam folder regularly, though there is always so much garbage in there. 46 spam catches right now over the space of 24 hours – what do peope get out of doing this? Have a nice weekend.

Sunsets in the country seem to be more beautiful than any place else. We get the most spectacular views when we’re at the farm. Of course, we’re missing out by not having Max and BERKLEY but we have our granddog Buddy to keep us on our toes. Beautiful photo.

    • We are so fortunate here, Judy, to have glorious sunsets on view from the back of the house. All I have to do is take a peek outside and I still manage to miss many of them. This one was particularly good and I’m so glad I managed to capture a hint of it. Thanks!

I simply can’t get good night pics with the cell phone. Would love to have a “real” camera. But your two shots are great! Beautiful sky in the one and I just love the two yearning critters. They are so adorable.

    Like

    • Thanks, Dor. The nighttime phone shots don’t have the crispness you get with the good cameras or maybe it’s the good lens, I don’t really know. “Yearning” is just the right word for those two – because their life is so difficult after all!!

Gorgeous sunset! I leave the nighttime star photography to my hubby. I don’t don’t anything about lenses etc…but he sure captures some pretty sights. He tries to teach me some of it, but it is so involved…I admit I just don’t have the patience for it.

The beauty in the sunset was captured very well! I would not be able to imagine a better photograph. I like the fields in the foreground… As far as those captivating dogs of yours, their eyes impeached you long enough and you succumbed! Ha ha! I would melt in their magical pull! So sweet, I come from a dog-loving family!
